Broadmeadows Pen Restructuring

At the 2017 AGM the incoming Committee gave a commitment to address the registration and overcrowding of boats in the Broadmeadows Pen. Since that time a number of audits of the boats and trailers in the pen have been carried out. On the 7th January 2018 there were 139 boats and 11 trailers in the pen. When we exclude Club Boats, 85 boats should have had 2017 tags. 23 boats displayed the tags.

It is recognised that a number of members who had paid for the tags, did not have them displayed for various reasons. However these audits have reinforced the views expressed at the AGM that a significant number of boats in the pen did not display current tags.

The Flags Officers have agreed the following schedule to accomplish a full registration of boats in Broadmeadows pen.

One the 17th February 2018 a credit card size “License Plate” tag will be placed in the stern of each boat. This boat will assigned a unique number printed on this license plate.

Members paying their pen fee should quote the license plate number assigned to their boat along with their insurance policy number. Where payment has already been made, an email with these details should be forwarded to This will also apply to members wishing to store their trailers in the pen. Payments must be made by the 1st March 2018. The annual pen tag will then be placed on the License Plate. As space is limited tags will issue on a first paid when the necessary documentation is in order.

On the 3rd March 2018 any boat or trailer without a 2018 pen tag will be removed to the racking system. Any such boat or trailer will have a license plate number which will be crossed referenced with the hull number. Details of these boats or trailers will be brought to the Committee meeting of the 12th March 2018 with a proposal that they be deemed abandoned and disposed of as the Committee determines.

Thereafter any boat without a pen tag will be treated in a similar manner. Requests for new boat storage must be made to
